Are you ready to start building your blog?
Already picked your niche and know what your niche needs? That’s great!
I’m so excited for you to begin your journey. And I hope that you love it as much as I do!
But, maybe your still undecided.
Alright, then this post is for you.
I’m going to give you some ideas to help you find your niche.
We will also go over what your niche needs!
So, Let’s get going.
Do you have absolutely no idea what your niche is yet?
Or, do you have some ideas but are still not sure?
Now maybe you don’t even know what a niche is.
Are you looking at me crazy, thinking what in the world is that?
Well Okay. Your niche is the main topic that you are going to build your whole blog around.
There are so many things that you can choose from.
Do you need a little help coming up with your niche?
Maybe this can help.
Here is a list of some really hot topics right now.
- Making Money, of course
- Health and/or Fitness
- Beauty and/or Fashion
- Self Improvement
Hopefully, that gave you some ideas!
Now when choosing your niche make sure to think about what it needs.
Yea..another crazy look from you right? I know.
What I mean is that your niche needs to include certain traits.
Here are the top four things your niche needs.
- Make you money
- Solve a problem
- Excite you
- Be popular
Alright now, let me go into those a little more.
Your niche should make you money.
Picking your niche can be hard. After all, you will be spending a lot of time writing about it.
You may even have to do a lot of research on it.
Your niche will be the base to establish your business.
That is if you’re trying to make money at this (which I’m sure you are).
You may want to sell products within this same field. Or even create your own!
So think about the products that can go along with your niche.
As you can see there is a lot to think about when picking your niche. It’s a big decision.
Choose wisely, It needs to solve a problem.
Next thing, you definitely need to choose wisely.
Make sure it is something that will interest other people.
You don’t want to be the only person who likes your blog!
Don’t choose a niche that no one else will enjoy reading about.
Your best bet is to make sure you are able to help someone out within that niche.
That is why someone will be looking for you in the first place.
They have an issue they need help with or need to improve upon.
Your audience will be looking for you to fix their problem.
Do we have to be problem solvers now? Yep!
If you don’t meet their needs, they won’t stick around.
- You want to be found
After all, that is what a blog is about.
Trying to reach that person who is looking for answers.
Ultimately that’s how we are found.
Someone types into Google their question…
We have to work to be that one who ends up on top with their answer.
It needs to excite you
There is a lot of debate on how to go about picking your niche.
Some claim you need to pick something that you are passionate about.
Then, others claim you can just pick a topic and go with it.
You can learn all you can about it, and it will become your passion.
I can understand how both could work out.
But you should at least have an interest in whatever you choose.
One thing for sure, you won’t find passion in something that you think is boring.
Most of your time will be spent on this one subject for quite a while.
You will be writing tons of posts about it.
And if you chose a niche your not an expert on you will spend a lot of time researching it also.
So make sure it is something you enjoy learning more about or improving upon.
The more excited you are about it, the better you will do.
You don’t want to not succeed because you eventually got bored with the niche you chose.
For me, it was kinda both. I have a passion for it, but I was no expert at it.
Since my whole point of starting this was to earn an income,
I eventually decided on the making money niche.
Which I do not recommend by the way.
And Yeah, I know, there are already a ton of those out there.
But, you will find that for almost any niche you choose.
And really that’s what you want.
You know people are looking for what you got!
Still Having trouble
Are you still having trouble deciding?
Just not sure of what niche you should choose! That’s okay.
It took me forever to decide on what I wanted to pick.
I wrote pages of blog idea posts thinking that I was going to go in that direction.
Then I would just up and change my mind.
I definitely do not recommend doing that though.
It was such a waste of time. But, I had a really hard time deciding.
If you are still struggling, try to do some brainstorming.
Write down a bunch of ideas. Which ones are you more interested in?
Like I said though, you don’t have to be an expert.
Maybe there is something you want to learn more about.
You can start there.
Make sure it’s popular
Or, find out what is popular right now.
That’s pretty easy to do. You can search google for trending ideas.
And I’m sure you have some type of social media.
Search for what’s popular on there. See what’s being shared, liked, or pinned.
If you need more help simply check out some magazines.
Just see what articles are on the cover.
A magazine won’t have it on the cover if it’s not popular.
There are so many ways to help figure out what niche you would like to specialize in.
Maybe you need to narrow it down
Now once you have chosen your niche, you may need to narrow it down a bit.
Just make sure it’s not too specific.
Let’s say you want to choose fitness.
This subject has such a wide variety of topics that you may need to downsize.
Maybe you know a lot about a certain diet or exercise plan you follow.
Then you could choose to write about how it works.
For instance, in the fitness niche, the Keto diet is booming right now.
I am sure there are others too. Say you choose one of those topics.
Then you can choose to write about diet for beginners, recipes, menus,
what you should expect, exercise plan, even reviews.
I think you get the idea!
More than one topic
There are rules to the exception though.
Not everyone will choose to keep their blog about one subject.
Lifestyle niche is typically one where you usually find posts pertaining to different issues.
Most people in this niche choose to write about parenting, finance, crafts, organization, etc.
The topics are endless here too.
So, it’s completely up to you. Whatever you decide I’m sure you will do great!
