Grow Your Business by Overcoming Self-Limiting Beliefs
If you can overcome your self-limiting beliefs you may be able to grow your business.
This is an example.
Let’s just say that “your friend” had spent years working as a web designer.
She created websites for small business owners. And was quite happy doing it.
Before she knew it her clients were asking for more than just beautiful websites.
They wanted branding advice and were looking to her for answers.
When she first noticed this shift, she was nervous.
Because she didn’t think she had what it took to be a branding expert.
But she decided to go ahead and take a chance.
And slowly started focusing more on branding.
Within a year, she had transformed herself from a web designer to a brand consultant.
Of course, now she was making even more money in less time.
Her clients loved her new shift and she was happier than ever before.
Maybe you can relate to where your friend was a year ago, stuck between two different paths.
To achieve this new level of success, she had to confront some pretty big beliefs that were standing in her way.
She’d been taught that long, hard hours were the only way to become financially successful.
And she certainly didn’t feel as polished as the other brand consultants she saw.
You may be just like your friend. Maybe you carry around a lot of self-limiting beliefs.
If so, these beliefs are preventing you from taking that next step in building your business!
Here are five ways to tackle your self-limiting beliefs
- Take Responsibility
- Become Aware
- Acknowledge the Belief
- Use Journaling
- Reframe the Belief
First off, your self-limiting beliefs are acting as a safety net.
Because they’re trying to protect you.
But it’s your job to decide if these thoughts are helping you.
Take responsibility and don’t let them keep you from true growth.
Second thing, try to pause and listen to your thoughts throughout the day.
Become aware of negative and positive thoughts surrounding you.
Write these thoughts down. This can help you work towards your goal.
Acknowledge the Belief
Next, you should approach your self-limiting beliefs with patience. Try asking yourself easy questions.
When addressing your beliefs, act like your talking to a young child.
For example, you may tell yourself,
“I understand that I’m scared of this new direction.
But, am I really happy where I’m at, or do I just feel safe here?”
You can use journaling to get to the root of your belief.
This can be very helpful.
For instance, ask yourself things like:
Could the belief you’re struggling with be just a lie that others have told you?
Or is it from the way someone made you feel at some point in your life?
Is this belief coming out of perspective?
And what is the worst that can happen?
Now, try writing your answers down on paper. Use this to help you set some goals.
Reframe the Belief
Remember those self-limiting beliefs don’t have to keep you stuck.
With plenty of effort, you have the power to change your mindset.
Counter your beliefs with positive affirmations that help you move toward your goals.
For example, your self-limiting belief might be that you can’t earn above a certain amount.
Challenge this belief with affirmations like:
My earning potential is only limited by my choices.
I do good work and I deserve to be well compensated for it.
Remember that you’re in control.
You can grow your online business and turn it into a thriving empire when you challenge your self-limiting beliefs.
Letting go of self-limiting beliefs is hard work. Your free journal and workbook can make it easier.
